ECO4 enables social landlords to deliver fully funded energy efficiency upgrades without using capital budgets. Switchee devices are eligible for 100% funding, providing vital property data, heat pump integrations and improving resident well-being. Our ECO Advisor Service delivers a complete, end-to-end package, managing everything from project design and funding, to installation and resident engagement.
Switchee devices are eligible under ECO4, fundable as smart heating controls within retrofit projects. Furthermore, they are eligible as an ECO4 Innovation Measure, which grants a significant 25% uplift on the Partial Project Score (PPS).
Monitor, assess and validate your ECO projects
Prove your project's success
ECO projects are only successful when they deliver real impact for the home and the resident. Switchee devices provide live, thermal performance data to validate that retrofit improvements are delivering their intended impact, while our ECO Advisor Service manages reporting and compliance, all on behalf of the housing provider.
Seamless integration
Switchee technology connects with retrofit measures including heat pumps and other low carbon heating, ventilation like the Switchee-enabled Vent-Axia as well as an ecosystem of additional sensors. By capturing and visualising performance data, landlords can confirm interventions are working as intended, strengthening both resident outcomes and housing stock performance.
Resident-first engagement
Messages sent directly to the Switchee device achieve response rates above 90%, creating a trusted communication channel between landlords and residents. In addition, our ECO Advisor Service is also available to deliver expert resident engagement throughout the retrofit experience for residents.
Long-term impact
Through continuous environmental monitoring, Switchee flags risks like damp, mould, and fuel poverty before they escalate. Beyond meeting EPC targets, this ensures healthier homes, reduced maintenance costs, and measurable social value.
What is ECO4?
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a UK government energy-efficiency scheme designed to reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty. ECO4, the current phase running until March 2026, requires energy suppliers to fund energy-saving measures in homes.
Eligible measures include insulation, low-carbon heating, renewable energy, and smart heating controls. To encourage the use of new technology, ECO4 also includes an Innovation Uplift. As an approved Innovation Measure, installing a Switchee device allows projects to claim a 25% uplift on their score, which significantly boosts the available funding. For social landlords, this makes ECO4 an even greater opportunity to deliver fully funded retrofits at scale, reduce carbon emissions, and improve housing quality without additional capital spend.
Switchee has supported multiple landlords in navigating the complexities of ECO delivery. Through our ECO Advisor Service, we provide a proven model for maximising funding, engaging residents, and validating outcomes with real-world property data.
